Load forecasting

Load Forecasting Software Powered by AI/ML

What is load forecasting?

Power traders use electric demand forecasting to inform positions and hedges. Load-serving entities use it to help balance supply and demand over multiple time horizons. Retail energy providers use it to manage procurement and schedule bids. Commercial and industrial energy consumers use it to reduce exposure to peak charges.

Electric load forecasting predicts how much energy will be consumed across a grid, meter base, or retail portfolio over a given time period. AI-powered load forecasting software uses machine learning, in addition to regression modeling, to continuously update load forecasts based on the latest load growth and demand patterns.

Frequently asked questions

Here are some answers about our platform, implementation process and pricing.
Amperon's AI/ML-powered forecasts consistently outperform static regression models, on average, because they continuously retrain on the latest weather, load growth, and grid conditions rather than waiting for periodic updates. Typically our forecasts are 3x more accurate than the ISO. We share backtest results against your current forecasts before you commit, so you can verify the accuracy gap in your own markets.
Grid demand forecasts can be deployed in a matter of days for the 25+ grids worldwide where Amperon already models grid conditions. Meter and portfolio forecasts typically stand up in a matter of weeks, depending on data availability and cleanliness. Our team works collaboratively with each customer to identify, collect, clean, and integrate relevant data streams.
Amperon ingests forecasts from multiple leading weather vendors and models, including leading numerical weather prediction (NWP) providers like ECMWF, NOAA, AG2, and more, as well as from next-generation AI weather models like AIFS and Google WeatherNext 2. We hand-select from 40,000+ hyper-local weather points for your specific project. Our system then dynamically weights each weather input based on population density and recent accuracy performance for your specific region, so the forecast always reflects the best available weather signal.
Yes. Forecasts are delivered through the Amperon platform, a REST API, flat file exports, or a native Snowflake (data warehouse) integration, so your team can pull data directly into existing trading, scheduling, and analytics workflows.
Most data science teams use Amperon as an independent benchmark or a second signal to supplement your market view. Since maintaining production-grade forecasting infrastructure across markets is a full-time job in itself, Amperon gives you industry-leading accuracy and enables your team to focus on higher-value analysis and position management.
Yes. Amperon maintains SOC 2 Type II compliance, and all forecast delivery methods, including the API and Snowflake integration, meet enterprise-grade security and reliability standards.
